Aces DVD Release Party in Beverly Hills This Weekend!!!

Warner Brothers is releasing our movie on DVD this week and our friends at Aces.com are throwing a big Hollywood party to celebrate! Wanna come? I’ll be there of COURSE! And so will Daniel Zirilli. Lacey’s been super busy since she moved back to Florida and she can’t make it. Too bad cuz I haven’t seen her since we wrapped up shooting Aces the Movie and that was more than a year ago!

Anyway… the party… It’s this Friday night at Friars of Beverly Hills. Cool place for a DVD release party, huh? Aces.com has this real retro-Vegas thing happening on their website, so an old school Hollywood hangout like Friars is perfect for their party, don’t you think?!

TV poker tournament host Brandi Williams is going to MC. Aces.com celebrity party planners Alex Quinn Presents to organize it all, so should be a real Hollywood see-and-be-seen event. Have you heard jazz/hip hop fusion artists 2Deep? They’ll be performing at the party.

Apparently a few hundred Aces.com players are coming, and they’re flying in a bunch of online poker tournament winners.

There’s a bunch of cool people coming that I can’t wait to meet: Cher Tenbush, 2006 winner of the CW hit reality series Beauty and the Geek; Eric Schiffer, socialite, film actor and best selling author of Emotionally Charged Learning; Al Bandiero, star of Desire, a new night time drama on Fox's My Network TV; Anthony Ghannam, the cute Disney voice actor who did "Ronno" in Bambi 2 and "Huayna" in Kronk's New Groove; Burke Bryant, star of the 2006 hit show Alive! and Sins, a new Paramount film soon-to-be-released.

But wait, there's more!: Shar Jackson, Brandy and her brother Ray J, Mad Mike from MTV’s Pimp my Ride, Jaime Gomez of Nash Bridges, Herb Alpert’s daughter Eden Alpert, Monica Coleman from Dancing with the Stars, and Davetta Sherwood of The Young and the Restless.

The guy from Aces.com is going to follow me around at the party recording conversations. We’ll put them together as a podcast for you. If you can’t make it personally, it’ll be almost like being there!

Bluff Rocks

Daniel Zirilli, who produced and directed ACES the Movie and who did the deal with Aces.com, came in from L.A. to come to this big private rock concert sponsored by Bluff Magazine. The band was Goldfinger. Lance Bass was there (too cute to be gay!!!) and a bunch of NBA players. And lots of famous poker players -- including Lisa Mueller who we'd met the night before at Howard Lederer's. She's HOT! Our publicist knows the Editor who organized the event, and we got the real star treatment.

They walked us down the red carpet to where what seemed like a million cameras flashed, and then Philip from Bluff Radio stuck a microphone in front of us and video lights and cameras pointed at us. Love it! We hung out most of the evening with Daniel and his friends, and Rene from Aces.com.

SUCH a good time at the WSOP!!!

Omigawd, we had SUCH a good time at the WSOP with the guys from Aces.com! What a weekend to be back in Las Vegas!!!

Here’s the rundown:

They asked us to be ready to go straight to a barbeque when they picked Sheena and me up at the airport at six. Well, come on! Are you kidding?! I smiled and told the publicist that I needed at least an hour. It was a short flight from LA, but we sat in the very last row next to the stinkiest toilet ever. And it was friggin’ HOT when we stepped out of the airport. We quickly agreed on 30 minutes and our whirlwind weekend in Vegas was off and running.

A couple of journalists dubbed us The Charlie’s Angels of Poker and maybe you’ll figure out why when I tell you how the rest of the weekend unfolded.

OK, so our 30 minutes stretched to 90, and the Pocket5s.com party that we were supposed to go to before the barbeque was technically over by the time we got there… We still met a bunch of cute guys there. I guess a few of them are as nerdy as you might imagine an internet poker player to be, but mostly it was a pretty cool crowd. Thanks Cal! Thanks Lenny!

We left that party at the New York New York Hotel and headed out into the desert suburbs of Las Vegas in search of Howard Lederer’s party at the Greek Bistro. Even I, who know nothing about poker really, know Howard Lederer is a poker wiz, so I was excited. There were lots of other real poker celebrities there too.

When we got there they were in the middle of a karaoke contest and the competition between Phil Gordon and this other guy was intense! We pigged out on this fantastic Greek buffet (first food of the day – I thought I was gonna die) while these two poker pros battled it out at the microphone.

Phil Gordon decided to pull out all the stops and began to strip to impress the judges and the howling audience. I couldn’t resist – our publicist handed me a ten and I ran on stage to stuff it down his sweaty underpants.

I have no idea who eventually won but it had to be him. I took two tall whisky shooters back to our table and Rene and I started pounding back whiskey. Sheena doesn’t drink, and Larry, our publicist, was driving a rented Mustang convertible, so he wasn’t drinking. Rene, the manager of Aces.com, was in Vegas to party and party is what we did!

Larry dropped us at the Venetian. Sheena went in to the casino to play Blackjack, and Rene and I went to Tao, the nightclub. (Fortunately I called a friend of a friend who used to work at The Palms, and we got in to this trendiest of trendy Vegas nightclubs no problemo.) It was cool. Tara Reid from American Pie sat next to us. She’s cool.

Next thing I knew, it was 9 a.m. and some magazine writer from England was calling us for an interview they’d scheduled for us, and all I could do was puke my guts out and swear I’d never do whiskey shooters with a crazy online casino manager all night ever again!

The phone interview I could handle. Joe sounded cute. I love English accents! Before you know it though, there was Larry in the fucking Mustang , dragging us off to the Rio where the biggest poker show on earth was happening. I’ve never seen so many poker players in one place. I don’t think anyone has!

Attention Ladies: this is a guy thing. There are thousands of horny guys strutting around, swearing they’re going to be the next Chris Moneymaker, and that when they win that ten million bucks boy are they gonna treat YOU right. Haha… Let’s just say the air is thick with testosterone – work it girl!

We spent the afternoon at the Poker Life Expo. I was running to the ladies’ room every two seconds, but somehow we managed to have a lot of fun between barfing episodes. Shit, I’m so embarrassed really. It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten so wasted – between the whiskey and the heat and the schedule I was done for.

Our publicist had no sympathy for a girl that just had a little too much fun the night before and kept introducing us to poker magazine writers.

The first one was Jill-Ann Spaulding. She’s a former Playboy Playmate and publishes one of the big poker magazines now, Top Pair Magazine. She interviewed us a few weeks ago and there were pictures of us in the current issue, so we were autographing those for people and posing for pics with Jill and with players.

Fun fun fun – but excuse me, where’s the closest Ladies’Room!?!?

When I got back, Larry took me to the WSOP Food Kitchen where we met up with Sheena and Rene. It was like 150 degrees in there or something – seriously, Vegas is not meant for humans – but at least Rene got me some cold water and a cheese burger and a chair. I scanned the area to locate the nearest washroom, just in case, but I was starting to revive.

We were there to meet Bob Pajich from Card Player Magazine. He'd just arrived from Boston or someplace east I think. Anyway, he was really excited about our movie. He said cheating used to be really bad in Vegas but apparently it's under control now. Well, not in our movie it wasn't! LOL

Next Larry took us over to talk to Tal at Poker Life Magazine. They had a nice leather couch and wine (none for me thanks) and cheese (bring it on – I’m starving now!). In the midst of the convention center madness of it all, this Tal guy was so mellow and funny I finally started to really chill and enjoy myself.

Saturday we had till one before we had to smile and tell another interviewer the story of how we met Daniel Zirilli and how we got involved in ACES the Movie and when we learned to play poker and what was it like shooting in Brazil and how we’re hosting online tournaments and do we have a boyfriend.

And fortunately, it was another cool guy, Philip, from Bluff Magazine. Another Brit – this one still a bit jet lagged and looking almost as bagged as I was the day before. We had a good laugh as he struggled to get through all the plastic packaging of his new digital recorder without injuring himself. And when the waiter told us that everyone in the kitchen was betting on whether or not I would eat all the food I’d ordered.

What!? I ordered some won ton soup because I’d been craving chicken broth since my stomach was so upset the day before. How was I to know they’d bring a bowl big enough to feed a family of four. And I wanted some friend rice. And I had a salad. That’s not so much is it?! Anyway, the noodles in the won ton were strange – Sheena even said so – so we sent them back and the waiter took them off our bill. I’m not sure how that affected the wagering back in the kitchen!

We said bye to Philip until said we'd see him at the Bluff Rocks party. He'd be interviewing us live on Bluiff Radio. We wandered around the convention center for awhile but it was so loud and so crowded and we’d been there done that the day before, so when our publicist said let’s go for a drink who was I to argue!?

He took us to the I-Bar at the Rio. We had this hot French waitress that neither Rene or I could take our eyes off.

How we got talking about various methods for estimating the size of a guy’s penis without seeing it I really do not know, but it was pretty funny. So was RJ, the guy from High Roller Life Magazine that joined us. He’d just been up to his room for a shower and was as relaxed as he’d been since he got to the WSOP. Haha – which is not at all! He told us stories about how he’d had nothing but good luck in the casinos the night before, and we had a great conversation about cheating in Vegas and girl power and, I think, Machu Picu. He asked us to pose for a few pics which of course I loved doing. By this point, Sheena had her mind on other things – like her aching feet, and her friends that had just texted her their arrival in Vegas. So let’s just say she was drawing on years of acting training as we hammed it up for RJ and his camera.

High Roller Life had a party at the Voodoo Lounge at the Rio on Sunday night, and we ended up posing for a million more pics. More on that later. ;)

Well, I’m actually just back home to L.A. – sat many rows away from the toilet this time thank god! It was a fun but exhausting weekend in Las Vegas. I was supposed to stay and be a foot model at the big shoe convention that's in Vegas this week. But that's another story. And I decided not to do it anyway. I’ve got a modeling job here in L.A. to get ready for tomorrow, so time for me to relax and get off this computer.

Tomorrow I’ll tell you all about the Bluff Rocks party that we went to at the Hard Rock Hotel on Sunday night. For now I'll just tell you this: one of the cutest guys there was a poker-playing chimp. Seriously!

WSOP Rocks!!!

Hey everyone! Aces.com has us in Las Vegas this weekend promoting the online casino site and our movie -- and what a great time we're having! From the moment the publicist picked us up at the airport on Thursday it's just been go, go, go. On Thursday night we went to a really cool party hosted by poker pro Howard Lederer. A bunch of my favorite poker players were there including Phil Gordon, Lisa Mueller and of course Howard. They were all competing in a hilarious karoake contest and believe me, they were all playing to win! When Phil Gordon pulled out all the stops and started stripping to the tune of "New York, New York" the judges and the guests were amazed but impressed. I took a hilarious photo of Christina stuffing a $10 bill in Phil's underwear waistband! LOL [Photo removed at Mr. Gordon's request]

When our publicist took us back to The Mirage we promised to go right to bed because we had an interview with Gambling.com Magazine first thing the next morning. But hey, this is Vegas, so of course we went out partying as soon as he left! I actually played Blackjack for a couple of hours and pretty much broke even. Christina and Rene, the manager of Aces.com, went dancing at Tao at the Venetian.

I think Christina was probably wishing she'd listened to our publicist because she was pretty hung over the next morning!

We spent all day Friday and Saturday hanging out at the WSOP meeting online poker players and doing interviews and photos with practically every big poker magazine there is.

Tonight (Sunday) we've got two big parties to go to -- one hosted by Poker Life Magazine and another by Bluff Magazine. We have no interviews tomorrow so I'm thinkin' we'll really be able to cut loose! Tell you all about that tomorrow!

I Won an Online Poker Tournament Last Night!

Well whaddya know?! Aces.com asked me to play in their regular Wednesday night Texas Hold’em tournament so I logged on and played last night. And guess what!? I WON!!! It was a really fun tourney. It felt really cool to win. It was funny b/c I didn't think I would win something that I was involved in for other reasons! The Manager at Aces.com told me today that he’s going to give the tournament prize to the second place player. The prize is an all expense paid trip to our DVD release party later this summer which I’m going to get from Aces.com anyway! My boyfriend plays and I have learned a lot from him. He could most definately go pro! He has played with some of the best! I was trying to be careful and fold on bad hands, but there were a couple of hands where I just had to go all in and fortunately it paid off – I ended up with over 50,000 in chips! Daniel will be playing in the tournament next Wednesday and Sheena the week after, then Christina.

Wow! Huge! And right on the Strip, right in front of the landmark Stardust. (Which I hear they're tearing down this fall... awww...) Haha -- we'll have to get that lamp pole moved for you Christina!

We're Going to Vegas for WSOP -- Party, Party, Party!!!

I'm so excited... The manager of Aces.com, the online casino that sponsored our movie, just called to say they're taking us all to Las Vegas for WSOP! We haven't all been together since we shot the movie, and I haven't been back to Vegas myself since then either. So this should be crazy fun!

Like one of my favorite lines in our movie: "One night in Vegas? You're just asking for trouble!"

The World Series of Poker is in full swing already of course. But we're going to Las Vegas for the opening weekend of the Tournament of Champions, July 28 - 30. That's the big one where unknown players like Chris Moneymaker have won millions and millions -- not to mention that flashy WSOP Bracelet!

Anyway, we're arriving in Vegas July 28, doing a bunch of magazine interviews and photo shoots on Saturday afternoon, and going to a whole bunch of big parties every night. I hope the Aces.com publicist let's us go play some cards for awhile!

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?! I don't think so... not when we've got our blog! We'll post some stories and pics from Vegas for you fer sure.

The Beach Scene Was My Favorite

My favorite scene in Aces the Movie was the final scene where the three of us are at the beach.

We’ve been through a lot together and come out smiling. We made a toast to ourselves with these big fruity drinks served in a real pineapple, and then we all ran down to the edge of the water together and jumped right in. It was so exhilarating. I’m sure people on the beach were wondering what these three American chicks with the cameras following them were so excited about. How do you say “that’s a wrap” in Portuguese?!

I Still Get Confused by Poker

Before I got the part in ACES, I’d never played before. My friends did their best to teach me before rehearsals started, but I was still pretty hopeless.

Christina had played a bit, but she was no card shark either. Now Sheena, she’s played poker with her grandfather since she was five, so she’s a contender!

Daniel brought in a bunch of really cool people to teach us how to play. You know, I get the strategy part of the game. It’s reading the other players that’s the hard part. I guess that comes with experience. Fortunately my character is as much out of her element at a high stakes poker table as I am so being a newbie myself helped me play the role. When she looks nervous or confused in the movie, that’s real! Just before we started shooting, Sheena and Christina and Daniel and I spent an evening playing poker at Daniel’s place in L.A. I lost everything of course, but Sheena gave Daniel a run for his money. I’ll tell you about that next time. ;)
